Thompson Hall is one of the earliest and most historic buildings on the Farmingdale State College campus, built in 1934 with a major addition in 1959. With a total area of approximately 1,250 m², the building originally supported the college’s agricultural programs, including dairy laboratories.
The ongoing renovation aims to transform Thompson Hall into a modern academic facility featuring updated classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, and accessible faculty offices. The project also focuses on significantly improving energy performance in line with SUCF’s Deep Energy Retrofit requirements and the NY Stretch Energy Code, while preserving key historic elements such as the original wood windows and masonry structure. The upgraded building will provide a healthier, more efficient, and future-ready learning environment for the college community.
